The 75-year-old singer / actor / director / producer / songwriter is a Gay Icon for all time.

Her career started with a string of successful club dates in 1960. Then, a record deal, a classic duet with Judy Garland on television, then her own television specials, five Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, Funny Girl on Broadway and on film, an Academy Award. That moment when her gloved hand brushed back Robert Redford’s hair. Another Oscar, that Neil Diamond duet, that Barry Gibb album, Yentl, as star, writer, and director. An American Film Institute Award, a Kennedy Center Honor, four Peabody Awards, the Presidential Medal Of Freedom, and nine Golden Globes. She is among a small group of entertainers to be an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award), and is one of only two artists in that group who have also won a Peabody. Streisand is the only recording artist to have a Number One album in each of the past six decades.

And, when she was 58-years-old, a happy marriage to James Brolin, proving it’s never too late to find true love.

Her film for Netflix, Barbra: The Music … The Mem’ries … The Magic!, begins streaming on Wednesday.

Streisand recently made a statement: “strong women are, simply, women with opinions”.

In a 1993 interview, when Streisand made a joke about her pupik (Hebrew for belly-button), Barbara Walters said: “You sound like the old Barbra”. Streisand replied: “I am the old Barbra. And I’m the new Barbra. I’m all the Barbras.”
