Homemade videotapes found among a recently deceased father’s belongings reveal a creepy double life. Is this real or a hoax?
So here’s what we know about “My Dad’s Tapes”: A man’s father dies. They were estranged. Hadn’t seen each other in years. He goes through his father’s belongings and finds a box of old video tapes. He starts watching them. Each one starts off with an episode of, say, Friends or Seinfeld then quickly switches to grainy, black-and-white homemade footage. There’s an abandoned house, a locked room, a man in a super-creepy leather mask, the masked man watching a woman undress though a window, the woman driving a car as a mysterious hand reaches for her throat, the woman is bound and gagged as a hand smoothes her hair… and on and on. For an astounding 86 tapes. One at a time, the son watches as the horror unfolds in the same terrifyingly oblique fashion. What’s going on? Who are these people? “If you recognize anyone in these videos, please contact me” he posts after each video.
So… Is this real or an art student’s prank? Or are we really watching one man’s descent into madness and MURDER? Watch the first couple videos here and decide for yourself. Tweet me @JSJdarling to tell me your thoughts.
