It takes serious dedication to make it to a party when it’s 10 degrees out, and the patrons of My Chiffon Is Wet embodied that dedication to the fullest last night. “That Thursday that we had the huge snowstorm it was pretty packed here,” hostess Ruby Roo told us about the Easternbloc party, now in its fourth year. “We all have a common goal. And that is to get cute boys drunk and make them dance their asses off.”

As Paisley Dalton spun (and danced to) pop, R&B, and disco favorites, Leo Gugu joined Roo on the dance floor for impromptu numbers (no stage or announcements, just the two of them being playful with the crowd) and dance-offs between $3 shots of “Ass Juice”. At one point, Dalton threw a curveball, turning to Liza Minnelli’s “Cabaret” and the drag duo captivated the crowd with their dramatic interpretation of the theater classic.

“I think what’s kept us one of New York’s best gay guilty pleasures is the campiness” Dalton shared. “It’s sooo gay! Nobody’s ‘straight-acting’ at Chiffon. You can fag out and nobody’s judging you. Although, you might get a side-eye if you lose your step during ‘I Hope I Get It’ from A Chorus Line, a weekly fave tune at MCW. Show tunes are serious biz here.”

After the Liza tribute, they pulled patrons from the bar to join them on the “runway” for a hilarious walk-off with go-go boy and burlesque performer Brooklyn Irons.

One of the highlights of last night was seeing Gugu take a break from snapping her fan to teach nightlife writer and guest-host Michael Musto how to do a somewhat recent southern hip-hop dance craze: the snap-and-roll. “I thought I was Leo’s biggest fan,” qupped Musto, “but it turns out she’s carrying it in her hand!”

We pulled Ruby Roo aside to ask her what she thought of her hair-doppelganger, Laganja Estranja from Ru Paul’s Drag Race and found out that they had shared a hosting gig right before this week’s premiere. “I was like, ‘I am so much prettier than you!’” laughed Roo. “But I will say this: she’s very nice. Extremely friendly.” When we asked her if she was implying that Estranja had a ‘really nice personality’, Ruby replied, “No! I wouldn’t say that!” (via Next Magazine)
