BUNNY AND WHICH B52?: This is the highest setting on my iPhone de-aging app. Too high?
I know, JSJ already covered this show but I went last night with pals Susan Kilkenny, Aleta Wolfe and Billy Cole and half of downtown showed up to see The Lady as well. In the audience were old pals Jimmy Paul, Jack Pierson, Booty, David Yarritu, David Ilku, Ian Luce, and many, many more. (The blurry photo above is Bunny with the B52s Fred Schneider. What? Did I set my iPhone de-aging filter too high?) You know, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised the place was packed, because everybody knows and loves Bunny. This show has everything and I’ll tell you, for $20 bucks (plus a drink) it’s the best value Off (Off Off Off) Broadway too. If you get there early (or have April Palmieri hold seats for you) you can sit on comfy couches right up front too. You’ll get a LOT for your $$!; songs that no one has sung on a stage since Nixon was in the White House, clown inspired gowns, politically incorrect jokes, tricky dance moves AND that legendary potty mouth. O.M.G. Andrew Dice Clay would blush! (intentional 80s reference) This show is seriously funny and if you are a RuPaul’s Drag Race fan – it’s a must-see. The shade was thrown. Bianca Del Rio gets it right in the face;
“I’m so happy Bianca Del Rio won RuPaul’s Drag Race. Not because she’s the funniest. She was. Not because she’s the prettiest. She was NOT. But because she REALLY needed the money. Maybe now she can stop doing her makeup with white out and a Sharpie!”
Ru is not spared either (FYI, Bunny’s old roommate. She would say the operative word in that sentence was OLD) Well, not to give the show away here BUT there is a lengthy bit devoted to what Bunny called “Tranny-Gate” which I will not go into or the haters will find us both on Twitter and start bashing. But I will tell you, she makes some good points, kids. So, see? It’s not just silly, it’s also informative. Did I mention it is FILTHY! Not for the faint of heart. No relatives unless you are Melissa Rivers (BTW, mama Joan makes a little cameo that matches Bunny’s filth level, joke for joke…) The show is every Tuesday at Esquelita, through the summer and beyond. If you’re in NYC for Pride, put this on your list. And a warning; if you’re Bunny’s age and get the squirts while laughing – wear some Depends… those cushy couches are white.
