Yann Arthus Bertrand Photography Earth From Above Earth Day 2014 Today is Earth Day and I thought what better way to mark it than by looking at it – from above. But first, an alarming new statistic which will go unnoticed again, no doubt. As of April 20, the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was 401.17 ppm. It has not been that high in MILLIONS of years according to climatologists:

“It’s the planetary equivalent of going to the doctor and hearing your cholesterol is through the roof,” said Bill McKibben, an author and co-founder of the group 350.org, “and our ‘leaders’ are like the patients who nonetheless won’t take their medicine, won’t stop smoking, won’t start exercising, and won’t change what they eat.”

On a lighter note, Yann Arthus-Bertrand is a well-known photographer and author of the hugely successful book Earth From Above, which was a ten year project. His book has been printed in 21 languages and has sold several million copies. Take a look at and go here to buy the book. You won’t be sorry. It’s one of those you can look at again and again. Oh and another statistic, there are 7,225,000,000+ of us on this blue marble at the moment.Yann Arthus Bertrand Photography Earth From Above Earth Day 2014
