As you know, Queen Bey has graced the cover of Vogue‘s annual September Issue. Which, may I add, makes her the third black woman after Halle Berry and Naomi Campbell, and first black female muscian to grace the fashion bible’s prestigious September Issue. Bow down.
Thus, in celebration of B’s overall slayage, I present to you her 10 most iconic magazine covers so far.
10. V Magazine, 2003
2003 was a big year for B—she made history with the realease of her first solo album, Dangerously In Love. Thus, it’s fitting that she covered the biggest (literally, V is an oversized publication) magazine in fashion.
9. VIBE, 2007
I’d argue that this might be the hottest summer cover of all time, tbh.
8. Dazed & Confused, 2011.
Serving up some ice cream, technicolor realness, and it’s literally the meaning of the word fierce.
7. Vogue, 2011
Beyonce’s first Vogue cover was an honor to her luscious curves, and it’s everything.
6. The Gentlewoman, 2013
In head-to-toe Dior, Beyoncé looks absolutely regal on this cover. Those hands!
5. CR Fashion Book, 2014
The CR Fashion Book shoot was guest-directed by Riccardo Tisci, who gave Beyoncé a true Naomi Campbell fashion diva moment.
4. GQ, 2013
Mama did not disappoint on the cover of the men’s fashion bible GQ. She was photographed by the controversial Terry Richardson showing a lot of skin (including a flash of underboob) and probably never looked sexier.
3. Out, 2014
Channeling her inner blonde bombshell, Beyoncé was featured on the cover of Out not long after bestowing her visual album Beyoncé upon the world. With the word “POWER” across the front (and no other text) it was a powerful way to declare her status as the gay icon of this generation.
2. Flaunt, 2013
I’m not sure how words will even aid my argument here besides stating that Beyoncé wore nothing but some beautiful glitter and metallic-themed hair and makeup for her cover photo for Flaunt, and it’s pure beauty.
1. TIME, 2014
Scoring the cover of TIME‘s Most Influential People issue is no small feat, as she was recognized for the way she has continually inspired women to be independent and lead, and with the release of her visual album Beyoncé, broke all industry rules. As it states in the opening of the article, “Beyoncé doesn’t just sit at the table. She builds a better one.”
