Over the weekend, grainy footage from the Suicide Squad panel at Comic-Con leaked and MY LORD, you would have thought the world was ending the way everybody FREAKED THE FUCK OUT. With no choice but to get ahead of the tsunami of bootleg footage, Warner Bros officially released the trailer on YouTube, and it’s as BATSHIT BANANAS as you’d hoped it would be. I take back every doubt I’ve ever had and every bad thing I’ve ever written about it. This movie is going to ROCK.

Tracked to an ethereal cover of the Bee Gees “I Started a Joke,” the clip has all the familiar faces: Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) doing some spelunking, El Diablo (Jay Hernandez) playing with fire, Deadshot (Will Smith) using a makeshift heavy bag, a restrained Killer Croc (Adele Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) dangling from the bars of her cell. Oh, and a final tag of Jared Leto’s Joker preparing to torture somebody and flashing his shiny teeth.
Some are quibbling that Harley doesn’t seem to have her Brooklyn accent, that Killer Croc appears a bit too diminutive, and that they might as well have gotten Lil Wayne to play Joker (oy, that grill!) – and yet August 5, 2016 can’t come fast enough for me.
