Florence Henderson, best know as the mom on The Brady Bunch, recounted how she unexpectedly contracted a sexually transmitted disease after a “little fling” in the 70s with former New York City Mayor John Lindsay, a story she tells in her memoir Life is Not a Stage:
“It’s not something I’m proud of but it’s something that happened. John Lindsay and I had a little fling one night and the next morning, I woke up and I had these creatures and I had no idea.”
Henderson called her doctor, who told her:
“She says, ‘You’ve got crabs.’ [It] scared the heck out of me. He sent me flowers the next day and apologized,” And of course, I never really saw him again.”
