The Maze Runner is yet another movie based on a YA novel about teens in a dystopian future fighting to survive, but this one stars a little someone I’ve been bellowing about on the WOW Report for YEARS… Teen Wolf‘s Dylan O’Brien! SQUEEE! From IMDB:
When Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) wakes up trapped in a massive maze with a group of other boys, he has no memory of the outside world other than strange dreams about a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D. Only by piecing together fragments of his past with clues he discovers in the maze can Thomas hope to uncover his true purpose and a way to escape. Based on the best-selling novel by James Dashner.
And yes, the premise sounds a bit like the 1997 cult classic Cube (7 complete strangers of widely varying personality characteristics are involuntarily placed in an endless kafkaesque maze containing deadly traps), but Dylan’s presence promises to lift it out of cult murkiness. It also stars Will Poulter (so great in last year’s Meet the Millers, remember), Thomas Brodie-Sansgster (who plays Jojen Reed, Bran’s lover on Game of Thrones) (OH DON’T GIVE ME THAT LOOK, YOU KNOW I’M RIGHT), and cutie Ki Hong Li. I think this one will BURY that too-slick CGI mess Divergent.
