Why, it’s Elle Fanning, of course. In a terrible red toupee, a slouchy grey suit, and a v-neck sweater. She’s playing a transgender teenager in the upcoming movie Three Generations, also starring Susan Sarandon and Naomi Watts. Filming began in November, yet it has already drawn some criticism for casting Elle rather than a transgender actor, according to The Advocate. But then that’s why it’s called acting, now, isn’t it? You don’t actually have to be a superhero to play one, or a boat captain or a lion tamer or a 19th century dance hall girl, so why should you have to be trans to play trans? *throws hands in air* I think s/he looks fab.
