Looks like moving to London to be with his boyfriend has totally excited Arca’s creativity! The Venezuelan-born musician Alejandro Ghersi has collaborated with FKA Twigs, Mykki Blanco, Kanye West (Yeezus) and co-produced the forthcoming Björk album. But what I can’t wait for is his own debut album Xen (which refers to his alter ego…an she is neither male nor female), which should have an amalgam of all that is fab and complex about Ghersi, including his NYC-living years- hanging out at the notorious (now defunct) GHE20G0TH1K party, his right-brain EDM re-envisioning, and as a recent FADER interview pointed out…his obsession with Aaliyah, Autechre, Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. It’s hard to say what’s more genius, the actual first single Thievery or this CGI naked lady video (Is this Ghersi’s gender non-specific second self?) that I’ve watched 9 times now.
