The Standard, East Village (as opposed to the High Line location) was formerly The Cooper Square Hotel. The designers re-upped the modern glam quotient on the new 21-story glass tower with amazing unobstructed views of uptown and the East Village. Really spacious rooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows, plus Narcissa, André Balazs and Michelin-starred chef John Fraser’s restaurant, featuring seasonal, local and organic produce from André Balazs’ Hudson Valley farm. This could mean some stiff competition for the nearby Bowery Hotel. Another downtown hipster hangout – next up? SoHo House, East Village.
