In the first celebrity trial of the #metoo era, Bill Cosby was convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault and faces up to 30 years in prison. After the verdict was read, District Attorney Kevin Steele immediately asked for his bail to be revoked, noting the severity of the charges. Judge Steven O’Neill countered that the bail was already pretty high and that Cosby hadn’t missed a single court appearance.
Steele argued that Cosby had many resources, mentioning a plane, as plane records had been a part of the defense’s evidence. That’s when roared:
“He doesn’t have a plane, you asshole!”
(He was speaking in the third person, you see)(because of course he was).
He then used an expletive to refer to the District Attorney, and shouted “I’m sick of him!”
Needless to say, when THAT happened the courtroom erupted in foam and thunder and the rest of Cosby’s tirade was drown out the resulting din.
The judge ruled that Cosby will remain free pending sentencing.
