Time magazine has come out with their annual list of the “100 Most Influential People” list for 2018, celebrating leaders in entertainment, politics, sports, technology, activism and more. On that list? Lots of our favorite people including Tiffany Haddish, Cardi B, Adam Rippon, Emma Gonzalez, Janet Mock, Issa Rae, Trevor Noah, Millie Bobby Brown, Gal Godot, J-Lo, Christian Siriano, Jimmy Kimmel, yummy John Krasiniski, Maxine Waters, and Robert Mueller. Also: Representing the alt-right: Donald Trump, Sean Hannity, and Roseanne. Yuck… but there’s no denying their influence, I suppose.
Writes Cher about Adam Rippon:
[Adam] represents something wonderful to young people.
“When I was young,” she explained, “I had no role models — everyone looked like Sandra Dee and Doris Day. There was nobody who made me think, ‘Oh, I could be like them. They represent me.’
“Adam shows people that if you put blood, sweat and tears into what you’re doing, you can achieve something that’s special. You can be special. And I think that’s very brave.”
Says Barack Obama about Emma Gonzalez and the other Parkland survivors:
“They have the power so often inherent in youth: to see the world anew; to reject the old constraints, outdated conventions and cowardice too often dressed up as wisdom. They have the power to insist that America can be better.”
And here’s Taraji P. Henson on Cardi B.
“She’s clear on her talent and she’s not trying to get in anybody else’s lane. She recorded ‘Bodak Yellow’ because it’s what she loved. Now she’s the biggest thing in music,” Henson exclaimed. “And even with all those eyeballs watching, she’s still unapologetically herself. Cardi B’s here to stay baby, and I’m happy to be a witness.”
