The artist Plastic Jesus successfully trolled the entertainment industry today when he unveiled a golden statue of disgrace mogul Harvey Weistein wearing a robe, pajama pants, and slippers, seated on a gold couch on a red podium that read “Casting Couch.” It appeared this morning at around 10:30 AM on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea, just a block from where the Oscar ceremony was being set up, before it was removed an hour later.
Says Plastic Jesus:
“For the past 4 years I have created an alternative Oscars statue to highlight issues that often go unnoticed in the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, these have included drug addiction, hero worship and exploitation,” a message on the artist’s GoFundMe website read, seeking funds for the creation of this year’s statue.
Last year, for instance, he put up a golden Kanye West life-size crucifixion statue in the same spot that was titled “False Idol” ahead of the Oscars.
